This month, we’re spotlightingVarju & Co, a Slovakia-based company that specializes in the manufacture of sword scabbards.
For the fourth time, they organized the “Leathercraft Creative Camp,” a workshop for adults held at the historic fortress in Komárno, once again bringing together people who share a passion for traditionalcraftmanship . Over the course of four days, participants learned all the steps involved in making a hand-stitched leather belt, from cutting and decorating the leather to traditional “saddler’s stitch” sewing and the final finishing touches.
Each belt has become a one-of-a-kind piece, personalized with its owner’s monogram and made entirely by hand.
“We are especially grateful to the Radermecker Tannery, which provided us with the exceptional leather that made the realisation of these creations possible. Working with materials of such high quality gave our participants the opportunity to discover true artisanal craftsmanship at its finest. Beyond technical skills, this workshop was also an opportunity to share knowledge, preserve traditions, and build a wonderful community around this craftmanship.”
